Thinking about games

With the delivery of the book manuscript to our editor and it moving into copy editing and production, we have started thinking about some of the associated things we want to have with the book.

One of them is a large poster showing the ecosystem of the social landscape. We had a couple of drafts in our talks at SXSW and at the IA Summit but so far nothing we have is quite right. We have secured some time from Bryce Glass to work on this (he worked on the model in our talks) and hopefully we will have something as wonderful as the flickr model that he did previously.

The other thing we are working on is a set of pattern cards that will be some sort of game or brainstorming tool. I have been reading up on game design and am seeking out the advice from the amazing game designer Matt Leacock (he designed the cool game Pandemic). The goal will be for people to use the cards to brainstorm ideas for designing social interfaces and hopefully something fun for teams to do as part of their brainstorming and creative process. Stay tuned for a trial run at a conference coming soon.
