Harry
Sternberg was a pupil of George Bridgeman and Harry Wickey at the
Art Student's League. He worked for the Graphic Arts Division of
the WPA Federal Art Project in New York City as a supervisor. He
received a Guggenheim Fellowship for creative work in etching and
lithography and taught both at the Art Student's League from 1933-1967.
He also taught at the New School of Social Research before joining the Art Student's League. His work has been shown at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, The Whitney Museum of American Art and the National Academy of Design. In addition, his work was included in the Fifty Modern Prints exhibit in 1932, 1933, 1934 and 1938. He relocated to California in 1967 and continued to work as an artist and educator.
