I. J. Sanger studied at the Fine Arts Department of the Teacher's College, Columbia. His work was included in the Fifty Prints of the Year 1931 and the Fine Prints of the Year 1936. He was involved with the New York City WPA in the graphic arts division. His work is in the New York Public Library, the Newark Public Library and the San Diego Fine Arts Gallery.
