Marcel Jacno

1904 - 1989

Marcel Jacno taught advertising at the Ecole Techniques de Publicite in Paris and at the Ecole de L‘Union des Arts Decoratifs. In 1937 he designed the hall of the graphic arts museum at the Paris Expo. He designed several fonts for the type foundry Deberny and Peignot, including Le Film (1934), Scribe (1937), Jacno (1950) and Chaillot (1954). He was a designer for Shell, Gauloises, Teatre National Populaire and for the movies where he designed lettering for screen titles. In 1978 he authored the book Anatomie de la lettre.
