Maurice
Freed was primarily an illustrator. He contributed frequently to The
New Yorker, Stage and Esquire. In 1933 he became art director to Esquire
and moved to Chicago for that position. In 1935 he left Esquire to
freelance and moved to Philadelphia. His work was used by Fortune,
Chilton Co., Jack and Jill, Missouri Pacific Lines and the Saturday
Morning Post in addition to several others.
