Rex Cleveland, a Chicago designer authored Typographical Terminology in 1938. He was appointed art director of the Composing Room in December 1939 and wrote several columns on typography and fonts for PM and AD. Around 1942/43 he returned to Chicago and began designing military equipment and farm machinery.
