Graphic Design from 9.11

Unlike many other sites out there across the web showcasing the photographs, the memorable images from September 11th's tragedy, the AIGA has created an Image Gallery in their new Forums area. This image gallery is full of design images dealing with the tragedy, its aftermath and coping. These are very interesting to go through.

They remind us that not all people resolve their feelings or make contributions through photos or through the writings that swept the web after 9.11. Some of these images were magazine and newspaper covers, some were illustrations in advertisements, some were posters and others are just graphic and textual interpretations of the feelings many of us have felt.

Some are very powerful. Which ones speak to you?

There are discussion boards available as well around each image. In addition to the Image Gallery, there are also a handful of articles by some well-known designers.

One is a very interesting call for design action by Steven Heller and an associated discussion around the symbology that could commemorate 9.11 - above and beyond the American flag. I wonder which images, signs, posters and symbols will end up in the design history books for this era?
