Design Interactive Logo Design

Assignment: Create an identity system for the design studio Design Interactive. Logo needed to be able to work dynamically as an intro to CDROM interfaces as well as in print for letterhead and other collateral materials.

Design Interactive logo

Approach: Working with principle, Roger Remington, I sought to explore various typographic and iconographic solutions to the studio's identity. We finally settled on a strictly typographic solution and then began working with various fonts. After looking at both seerif and sans serif solutions we narrowed down the choices to sans serif. The final logo uses Futura Condensed.

Playing on the fact that both words in the studio name share the I and the N, I decided to overlap the two words and letterspace the second word, based on the width of the font. A second color was added to aid in readability of the two words. They hold together as one entitity but separate themselves as well by spacing and color.

Once the static version of the logo was finalized, an animated version was created. The animated version was used in intro screens to multimedia project the studio developed.

Outcome: The identity that was developed is flexible and lends itself well to the animated version. The logo was used in full letterhead system and collateral materials as well as in several multimedia prototypes.
