Doctor's appointment

I went to the doctor today to get advice on when I can start running again. Since I have never sprained anything I don't know what normal recovery is.

Well, I was afraid of the news that I got. Since I have a specific spot that hurts and the ankle is very mobile and not swollen, the doctor ordered x-rays. I have a broken bone in my foot. The fifth bone is broken at the end near the joint where the foot bends into the ankle.

No wonder my foot still hurts.

I kept asking him when I can run again. He said since the bone is well wrapped with ligaments and I am not having any problems walking I wouldn't need a cast. That is good. He said I could swim and aqua jog but no weight bearing exercise for 4 weeks (at least). After that I need to pay attention to my foot and how it feels and progress slowly. He said start with walking briskly for 1/2 hour then gradually move to jogging but I don't know if I have time for that.

We will see how I feel in a couple of weeks after all the aqua jogging. Once the pain goes away (after 3 weeks or so) we will see what kind of pressure I can take. I don't want to reinjure my foot.

Bummer.
